Have you discovered a honey bee colony on your property but don’t quite know what to do about it?
We offer a free honey bee swarm collection service within a 35 mile radius of Bristol to remove the honey bees where they are causing you an issue. We usually extract the bees as safely as possible in the evenings and at weekends during April to September (although it is not unheard of in December!) . Once removed, they are safely housed and monitored in our quarantine apiary for several months to check for signs of disease before being given a permanent home in one of our apiaries.
Please be aware that honey bees can only be removed if consent is given by the property owner. Not all swarms can be removed due to their inaccessibility but we can certainly try!
Many residents contact us to remove bumble bee colonies. We do not offer this service as bumble bee nests are short-lived and usually die out by September when the next generation of new queens leave the colony to find a suitable nesting site in which to overwinter. We advise you to leave the nest where it is and please be patient. Bumble bees (like other solitary bees and most honey bees) are usually placid. They only display aggression if they feel threatened.
